The coastal area is a complex ecosystem unit that could potentially provide direct and indirect benefits for human beings. Coastal zone management policies need to consider the economic value of the region so that its implementation can be carried out entirely in costs and benefits context. This thesis aims to determine the socio-economic characteristics of the fishermen and then direct use value of Depok Beach which is obtained by Effect on Production approach.
This research uses quantitative approach with survey method. Data were collected by questionnaires, interviews and document study. Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique of 46 respondents. Data were analyzed by descriptive approach and effect on production approach with Cobb-Douglas production function. The dependent variable is the amount of fishery products (Q) and the independent variables consist of the price of fishery products (X1), age (X2), education (X3), income per year (X4), the number of families (X5), and fishing experience (X6). The socio-economic characteristics of fishermen in Depok Beach are:
The average age of fishermen is 39 years old; the average education is junior high school; the average income is Rp. 4.047.995,- per month; the average number of families is four people; and the average of fishing experience is 17 years with 66 fishing trip a year. Based on the effect on production analysis, the regression model showed variation changes in the amount of fishery products of 99.2% can be explained simultaneously by six independent variables. The variable affecting the amount of fishery products successively are price, income, age, the number of families, fishing experience and education. The consumers surplus is
Rp.794.048.018,20 and the direct use value received from Depok Beach based on Effect on Production approach is Rp. 3.995.265.240,- or Rp.311.792.358,30 per hectare.
